King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is strengthening its international collaboration in science, technology, and innovation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (YSeven AI) from the People’s Republic of China. The partnership aims to jointly develop cutting-edge technologies involving artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor technology, smart medical devices and instrumentation, electric vehicles, industrial automation, and the production of a highly skilled workforce to support Thailand’s targeted industries and foster the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development.

The MOU signing ceremony was held on July 24, 2026 at KMUTNB Techno Park Building, Rayong Campus. The event was presided over by Chairman of the University Council  Prof. Dr. Teravuti Boonyasopon. Additionally, this special occasion was graced by the presence of   Mr. Kitti Kiatmontri,  Deputy Chief Executive of the Rayong  Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), representing the Rayong PAO Chief Executive Mr. Piya Pitutecha.

Prof. Dr. Thanin Silpcharu,  KMUTNB President and Mr. Wang Bin, Chairman of Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (also known as Yseven AI ), signed the MOU.  Witnesses at the signing ceremony encompassed Dr. Chen Xianjun, the CEO of Yseven AI; Mr. John Chen, Chairman of Guoxin Huatai Co., Ltd;and Huawei representative along with KMUTNB senior executives; government agency representatives and those from the Rayong PAO, industry partners, and representatives from top Chinese corporations, precisely: Huawei, Yseven AI, China Culture Promotion Association, Guoxin Huatai Co., Ltd., and China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology.

A key highlight of this collaboration is the establishment of the AI Center for Medical Devices and Instrumentation at KMUTNB Rayong Campus, which is located within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The center will serve as a hub for research, development, and technology transfer regarding advanced AI and medical technologies. The activities include collaborative R&D associated with innovation; the establishment of joint research laboratories; the development of new academic programs designed to generate future physicians with mastery of medical AI tools for more accurate and effective patient diagnosis. This will prepare future physicians with AI competencies  produced by the Faculty of Medicine, KMUTNB Rayong Campus.

Other areas of cooperation explored by both Parties are, namely, the establishment of a training center for AI and semiconductor technology;  the production of highly skilled professionals in response to national and international demands across industries; collaborative development of the Thai-Sino innovation ecosystem through joint R&D;  technology transfer and commercialization; entrepreneur and startup incubation; launching an innovation fund; student, researcher and faculty exchange programs; and  the promotion of advanced technology investments within the EEC to strengthen Thailand’s global competitiveness.

On the same occasion, KMUTNB announced a major strategic milestone in its institutional development by reaffirming its vision of becoming a university that integrates engineering, technology, and health sciences. Then the University Council has approved the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at KMUTNB Rayong Campus, with the goal of producing physicians with medical expertise alongside technological and innovation capabilities.

The new Faculty of Medicine is expected to support the development of Thailand’s healthcare system, particularly within the EEC . The initiative is intended to address the country’s shortage of medical personnel, support an aging society and upgrade the national healthcare system, and ensuring access to high-quality healthcare services. This scheme aligns with Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategy (2018–2037) and the 13th National Economic and Social Development Plan (2023–2027), both of which emphasize the urgent national priority to develop medical workforce to encounter a crippling shortage of healthcare professionals.

The signing of this MOU marks a significant milestone in KMUTNB’s commitment to building strong global industrial partnerships with leading industries. It reinforces the University’s role as one of Thailand’s leading institutions in science, technology, and innovation– with its commitment to generating highly qualified graduates; advancing research and innovation, and fostering government-academia-industry collaboration. Through these efforts, the partnership can contribute to Thailand’s transition toward an innovation-based economy, promoting enhanced national competitiveness and encouraging sustainability industry trends of the future.
